Hello from Kerin

Hello !

Thanks for popping by ! I hope you enjoy pottering around my website.

My life has been devoted to this beautiful craft ...  photography.

It started as a child, a camera given to me by my grandma when I was around 10. She had a great eye and took lots of photos. She would pay to develop my films for me. What a lovely memory ! I did really well in Year 12 Photography and achieved the highest score and so it confirmed to me, that this was my path. In year 11 and 12 I did work experience most of my weekends, with the local photographer and the local newspaper. I applied for a job as soon as I finished school in a photolab, although they wanted a senior I convinced them with my enthusiam that they needed a junior also and got the job ! I worked there for a few years, moving then onto a Lab in the city and starting my studies for my Diploma in Commercial Photography. For 3 years I commuted from the Adelaide Hills to Elizabeth ( which is a massive drive for a young girl ) as well as working almost fulltime to pursure my dream and get my Diploma. After that I got a job in a successful Adelaide Photography studio and excelled there for several years until I decided it was time, to take the plunge and go out on my own. I started with my life savings and the money my Dad and Mum had put aside for when I ever got married. I asked them if I could have it for my biggest dream !  I learnt on film and shot years of my career on it, had several darkrooms, starting out with my first one where I negotiated half of Dad's shed at 16 years old. The transition to digital was hard and challenging but I jumped on the fast moving train and hung on for life !

And it brings me to today ...  years later, hundreds and hundreds of weddings and family shoots later, several overseas trips, exhibitions, creating my sister business, Two Little Birdies and being awarded a Master of Photography.

Being in business as a photographer has been a wonderful and tough ride, I have worked at my craft my entire life and I never given up. Growing, learning and striving for my best. I am now, in 2018 planning the building of my bigger studio and the return to study in 2019 to complete a second Diploma, this time in Photoimaging.

When I am not a business owner and photographer I am just a girl who loves the simple things in life, my country home, my animals and family. My loves are bushwalking, vintage furniture, reading, movies, doing up my home and travel when I can ( although alot less these days when renovating ! )

I've been blessed with a life of doing what I love for a living. That magical, euphoric buzz when light, emotion and timing collide to create beautiful images, it truly never gets old.

I'm a passionate avocate for photography in print, my skillset is not only about taking the picture but seeing it come to life in albums and print. To me, it is up there with my favourite things, there is nothing quite like it.

I hope I may be able to share my love and passion of what I do with you.

Kindess and Light, Kerin xx
