A dream of mine has been to create a Garden Studio, to grow large patches of flowers on my property to add to my choice of locations for my Portrait Shoots.
I live in South Australia in a beautiful country town called Strathalbyn, on the Fleurieu Penisula, about an hour from Adelaide.
My home sits on 3/4 of an acre with a big area perfect for this project, surrounded by majestic gum trees. When I found this place, I fell in love with space as much as the house.
December last year we planted the sunflowers seeds. They were meant to grow to about 1.8m, if I was lucky and I actually hoped they wouldn’t get that tall !
They grew and grew and enormous flowers bloomed at about 2.2m !!!
I shot the most gorgeous Family sessions and can’t wait to do it all again. We are planting a smaller variety which I hope will be around 1.5m. They should flower early March 2025.
At the moment I have a field of whimsy, white Cosmos growing, which should be ready for some shoots soonish.
